Meow Apps grew naturally out of my own requirements. For my WordPress sites I needed functionality, and therefore plugins, but I also wanted everything optimized and perfectly conceived. I soon realized that there were innumerable plugins, but few of them were fully developed. They had performance issues, limited support, compatibility problems, redundant options, and so on. So I decided to launch my own plugins, and I’m still the primary user.

My first successful plugin was WP Retina 2x. Before the release of the MacBook Pro with Retina display, this high-resolution technology was introduced. I saw right away that the websites wouldn’t work properly with this type of display. So I set to work on the plugin, before I could even test the display. I pre-ordered the new MacBook, and as soon as it arrived I made sure everything worked. My site, after Apple’s (and a few others, of course), was the first to offer a beautiful display using Retina screens. From then on, plugin success guaranteed! It’s been downloaded over 3 million times to date.

I went on to release other plugins, while managing to win the users’ trust, and the Meow Apps name was popularized and appreciated. A titanic task but worth it. These are my most popular plugins (with Joranne’s drawings inspired by my offbeat explorations …).
